RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Sensor Module
The RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Sensor module serves as a substitute for the commonly used PIR motion sensors found in burglar alarms and security lights. Similar to PIR sensors, it is capable of detecting movements within its designated range.
Instead of detecting blackbody radiation from a person in motion, this sensor utilizes a technique called “microwave Doppler radar” to identify moving objects. Its range of sensitivity is approximately 7 meters. Once activated, the OUT pin will change from LOW (0 V) to HIGH (3.3 V) for a set period (2 to 3 s), before returning to its idle state of LOW.
The RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Sensor Module can seamlessly function with various microcontrollers or even without one. It is compatible with power supply inputs ranging from 4 to 28 V.
The output pin has various potential uses, including powering a sound or light signal and connecting to a 3-V microcontroller for additional functions. When assembling, be mindful of obstructing the sensor module with any metal pieces. Additionally, ensure that there is at least 1-cm of open space on both the front and back of the module.
- The pin is typically used for securing fabric pieces together.
- RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Sensor Module disable input for CDS is set to low to activate disable mode.
- Input supply range for VIN is 4 to 28 volts DC.
- Motion has been detected at a high voltage of 3.3 V, while there is no activity at a low voltage of 0 V.
- GND, also known as Ground or 0 V.
- The 3V3 has a regulated DC output with a maximum of 100 mA.
Characteristics of RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Sensor Module:
