TEC1-12706 Thermoelectric Peltier Module

Utilizing Peltier Thermoelectric Effect, the TEC1-12706 Thermoelectric Peltier Module effectively cools and heats up to 90°C with its 127 semiconductor couples in a compact area of 40mmx40mm.

Thermoelectric coolers, also referred to as TECs or Peltier Modules, produce a temperature contrast on each side. As a result, one side becomes heated while the other cools down. This allows for dual functionality in either heating or cooling items, depending on the selected side. Additionally, the temperature contrast can be harnessed to generate electricity.

The Peltier functions best when the heat is removed from its hot side. Upon powering on, the hot side will rapidly heat up while the cold side cools down. Failure to remove the heat from the hot side using a heat sink or similar device will cause the Peltier to reach a standstill. It is suggested to utilize a heatsink from an old computer CPU or any other metal block to draw heat away from the hot side. We successfully employed a computer power supply and CPU heatsink to make the cold side too uncomfortable for us to touch with our bare fingers.

A TEC module, made up of semiconductor materials, serves as a miniature heat pump. When a DC power source is connected, the module moves heat from one side to the other, creating distinct hot and cold sides. These modules are commonly utilized in various industrial applications such as cooling computer CPUs, CCDs, portable refrigerators, medical instruments, and more.

Commonly referred to as Thermoelectric cooling modules, these devices are also known by other names such as Thermoelectric modules, Peltier modules, and Thermoelectric cooling module.

  • When using the module, please make sure to stay within the designated maximum values of Imax and Vmax. Going beyond these limits is not recommended.

  • Just a friendly reminder: for optimal performance, always use a heatsink with the Heat side. To avoid any issues, please avoid running the device without a heatsink for more than a few seconds when using a power supply.
