A VOM, or multimeter/multitester, is an electronic device that integrates various measurement functions into a single unit. Basic capabilities of a standard multimeter include voltage, current, and resistance measurements.

To test for DC voltage, AC voltage, DC current, resistance, diode, buzzer, and battery, simply connect the red test lead to the “VΩmA” jack and the black test lead to the “COM” jack. However, when measuring current greater than 200mA, switch to the “10A≡” jack for the red lead and “COM” for the black lead. For temperature testing, use either the “VΩmA” or “COM” jack with the temperature probe attached.
To check the magnifying ratio of the transistor, set the switch to hFE and plug it into the blue eight hole jack. The square wave output has a frequency of 50Hz and a voltage of around 3Vp-p. Use the “VΩmA” and “COM” jacks for output.
The LCD display on this compact digital multimeter features a bright yellow color and can measure both AC and DC voltage and current.
