FORCE SENSOR SQUARE
This force sensor resistor (FSR) from Interlink Electronics is a passive component that exhibits a decrease in resistance when there is an increase in the force applied to the 1.5″ × 1.5″ (4 cm × 4 cm) active area, allowing you to create a sensor that is able to detect force or pressure. With a force sensitivity range of a few grams to a few kilograms, this force sensor is optimized for use in human touch control applications.
FEATURES:
-Actuation Force as low as 0.1N and sensitivity range to 10N
-Highly Repeatable Force Reading: As low as 2% of initial reading with repeatable actuation system
-Ultra thin: 0.45mm
-Robust: up to 10M actuations
PROCEDURE:
-Initially, the sensor gives a default resistance value as 600k ohm.
-Once a small weight of 200g is applied on to the force sensor, the resistance value decreases to 500k ohm.
-Then the weight is increased up to 300g on the force sensor and the resistance value decreases to 100k ohm.
-For a weight of 500g on the sensor, the resistance goes down to 75k ohm.
-Further the resistance decreases to 3k ohm for a weight of 1kg.
APPLICATION:
-Pressure-sensitive touch user interface
-Tactile sensor for robotic appendages
-Drum pad for an electronic instrument
-Alarm system sensor:
-alert when an object is removed
-alert when intruder steps on it
