HMC5883L Magnetometer Sensor
Honeywell’s HMC5883L IC provides low-field magnetic sensing with a digital interface for low-cost applications such as compassing and magnetometry. HMC5883L includes high-resolution magneto-resistive sensors of the HMC118X series along with an ASIC that is capable of amplification; automatic degaussing strap drivers; offset cancellation; and a 12-bit ADC for accurate compass headings of 1° to 2°. I2C provides an easy interface.
Honeywell’s HMC5883L Magnetometer Sensor uses anisotropic magneto resistive (AMR) technology, which offers superior performance over other magnetic sensor technologies.
In addition to measuring the direction and magnitude of Earth’s magnetic fields, these sensors have a very low cross-axis sensitivity. Low-field sensors made by Honeywell are among the most sensitive and reliable in the industry.
Please note:
Some boards may be labeled ‘HW-127’ instead of ‘GY-273’ despite being otherwise identical (e.g. some may be labeled ‘HW-127’ instead of ‘GY-273’).
