Description

KY-018 3pin Optical Photosensitive Sensor Module

The KY-018 3pin Optical Photosensitive Sensor module for Arduino is a top-notch light detector that utilizes a photoresistor. As the amount of light on the photoresistor increases, its resistance decreases. KY-018 3pin Optical Photosensitive Sensor module also comes with a built-in 10k resistor, which can be used to create a divider circuit for tracking changes in light intensity. An analog input pin on a device like an Arduino can then be used to read and measure the light intensity.

To connect the photo resistor module to the Arduino, follow these steps:

The first pin of the module (S) should be connected to an analog input pin on the Arduino. While the sketches provided use analog input A0 on the Arduino, it is possible to modify this if desired.

Module Pin 2 should be connected to the GND pin on the Arduino.

The module’s Pin 3 (-) links to the 5V pin on the Arduino.

Key characteristics:

  • The photocurrent of the photosensitive device increases as the voltage is applied.
  • The temperature coefficient has a significant impact on the photoelectric effect and partial optoelectronic performance of photoresistors, especially at low temperatures.
  • While the sensitivity is high, it decreases at higher temperatures.
  • Rated power refers to the allowable amount of energy consumed by a line photoresistor as the temperature increases.
  • With its high power consumption reduced, it is exceptionally efficient.
  • Based on their spectral characteristics, there are three types of photoresistors: Ultraviolet, infrared, and visible.
