Raspberry Pi Zero W
The Raspberry Pi Zero W has received an impressive upgrade. Any guesses on what it might be? (Here’s a hint: It starts with a W.) And no, it’s not simply a letter – it’s WiFi!
Indeed, one of our most beloved enhancements has now made its way to the Raspberry Pi Zero board. The BCM43143 WiFi chip integration has enabled a built-in WiFi feature. You may recall a similar chip was also incorporated into the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. And just like the Pi 3, the Raspberry Pi Zero W also includes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capabilities.
We’re big fans of this upgrade since it allows us to get rid of bothersome communication peripherals like an ethernet cable or dongle. Plus, it has the same form factor, connections, and mounting holes as the Pi Zero v1.3, making most accessories compatible-excluding those with WiFi capabilities.
The Raspberry Pi catalog offers an impressive array of features, including a micro SD card slot, mini HDMI port, dual micro USB ports (for power and USB), 512MB of RAM, and a single-core 1 GHz processor chip. Despite its slim form factor, it packs all these components seamlessly together.
The Pi Zero W combines the features of the original Pi Zero with enhanced connectivity, including 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.1, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
In addition to this, the Pi Zero contains all other features found on the board.
