GP2Y0A21YKF 10-80CM IR Distance Sensor

The GP2Y0A21YKF 10-80CM IR Distance Sensor utilizes infrared technology to calculate the distance of objects in its vicinity. It provides an analog voltage output which can be utilized to measure the proximity of the nearest object. GP2Y0A21YKF 10-80CM IR Distance Sensor includes a 12-inch long 3-JST interface wire. These sensors are ideal for detecting objects at close range. However, for distances over 1 meter, we recommend using sonar sensors instead.

To use, attach the black wire to ground, the red wire to 5V, and the white wire to the analog input. The analog voltage output will vary between 3V when an object is within 4″ (10cm) and 0.4V when it is within 32″ (80cm).

Please take note of the following.

The manufacturer suggests using a 10 µF (or larger) capacitor near the sensor to stabilize its power supply line, as it tends to draw current in large, short bursts.
